Obstacle courses

An obstacle course is a race you can rent. It is longer than a moonwalk and it asks more of the kids who run it.

The catalog on this site is enclosed jumpers. An obstacle course is the other shape: a long inflatable with walls to climb, crawl-throughs, and a slide or a finish that makes people time each other. Schools, company picnics, and sports-team parties like them because the activity has a start and an end. A moonwalk is a place to be. A course is a thing to do. If your guest list is mostly preschoolers, the course will scare the right people and bore nobody only if you picked a short one. Read the age note on the booking page.

Length is the whole argument. Courses eat lawn. A backyard that proudly fits a 17-by-17 moonwalk often cannot take a 40- or 60-foot run, plus the width, plus a queue that is not standing on the neighbor’s rosemary. Measure the long way. Then check gates. A rolled course is a heavy log of vinyl, and the path from the truck to the grass has to accept it. Alley deliveries and tight side yards are a call-ahead, not a surprise for the driver.

You will want more than one adult. One person starts racers so they do not pile into the first climb. Another watches the middle if the course bends or if you cannot see through it. A third at the finish helps if you are running a bracket and also keeping finished kids from running back up the lane. That is host staffing, not a promise that the rental includes referees. The company’s setup crew installs the unit. They do not stay to run your field day unless a listing says otherwise, and you should not assume it does.

Rules stay plain. Shoes follow the item page — some courses want them off, and you do not get to decide from memory. No flipping off walls. No climbing the outside. Similar sizes race together. A parent who wants to “just try it” can take out a seam of kid-sized runners by accident. Weight limits are on the booking site. Believe them.

Power and stakes scale up with the vinyl. A long course may want more than the single household outlet a moonwalk uses. Confirm that before you advertise a park pavilion that has one tired plug. Wind exposure is higher because there is more wall. If the course is trying to migrate, unload it. The weather rules live on Austin Bounce House Rentals.

Obstacle courses pair well with a moonwalk when the ages split: older kids on the course, younger kids in a jumper or a toddler unit, parents at a table that is not in the lane. They pair badly with a water slide on the same small lawn. Pick the footprint you can stake, not the flyer that looks busiest.

This page does not price courses and does not show the inventory. Heights, lengths, and guide rates change by unit and by date. Use the category on the booking site, filter with your tape measure in hand, and reserve there. If you only needed a character jumper for a backyard birthday, the moonwalk list is the shorter and kinder choice.
