Field note 04

Setup day

You are not inflating a moonwalk with a hair dryer and a YouTube clip. The crew does that. Your job is the yard and the outlet.

Austin Bounce House Rentals delivers, sets up, and picks up. The arrival window is part of the reservation on their site, not a promise this guide can invent. Book the date there, read the window they give you, and have the patch clear before the truck is on the street.

Inflation

Once the blower is on, a moonwalk usually stands up in a few minutes. The crew handles the unroll, the hose, the stakes, and the safety check of the setup. You do not need a second fan, a shop vac, or a crew of uncles. You need the gate open, dogs inside, and cars out of the path from the curb to the grass.

What the host does

Clear the footprint the day before if you can, including toys, hoses, and the sprinkler head you always forget. Have one working outdoor outlet ready. Tell the driver about the gate code, the alley, and anything under the soil you do not want a stake in. After they leave, the blower stays on while the moonwalk is in use. If it loses air, something is wrong with the power or the zipper, and that is a phone call, not a DIY repair.

Pickup

Pickup is the reverse: kids out, shoes collected, blower off when the crew says so. A wet moonwalk from rain or a water fight takes longer to pack and is a conversation for the live weather policy. Do not drag the unit to the curb to be helpful. Leave it staked until the people who own it arrive.
