Field note 02

Yard and size

The number on the catalog is the jumper. The number that matters in your yard is the setup area around it.

A standard themed moonwalk is often 15 by 15 feet of actual jumping surface and needs about 17 by 17 feet to stake, stand the blower, and give the crew a place to work. Castle units run smaller. The giant boombox runs much larger. Read the setup line on the unit you want, then go outside with a tape.

How to measure

Mark the corners, not a hopeful oval in the middle of the yard. The patch has to be level enough that a moonwalk does not lean into a fence. A gentle slope that feels fine for a lawn chair will tilt an inflated floor. If you can see the lean, pick another spot or call before you book that unit.

Overhead clearance is the forgotten dimension. Tree limbs, basketball goals, porch roofs, and string lights all count. When a listing prints a height, plan on at least that much open air, plus a little for the blower path. When it does not, still look up. A 15-foot-tall surprise behind the garage is a bad day.

Gates, grass, and driveways

The rolled unit has to reach the patch. A straight shot from the truck through a gate is the easy version. Tight side gates, locked alley doors, and stairs are the conversation to have before delivery morning. Grass is the normal surface. A driveway can work when it is the only level place, and it is harder on knees and on the vinyl. Tell the crew which surface you have when you reserve on Austin Bounce House Rentals.

One outlet, some noise, real stakes

These moonwalks are published as one household outlet. The cord needs a straight run to a working outdoor receptacle, not a daisy chain of tired extension cords buried under a rug. The blower runs the whole rental. It is a fan, and it sounds like one. Point it away from the present table if you can.

Stakes go into the ground to hold the unit. Sprinkler lines, drip irrigation, and shallow utility laterals are yours to know about. If you cannot stake, say so on the booking call. Do not plan to hold a moonwalk down with a cooler.

Use the yard chooser on the catalog after you have a real measurement. Compact is the castle class and the smaller funhouse. Standard is the 17-by-17 backyard. Wide is the boombox.
